Hi, I’m Kristi!

I started Bijoux de Terre in 2017, but I’ve been a maker since childhood. My mom taught me to sew probably before I could walk and in the first grade, I made a rad pair of leopard print bell bottoms that I wore ALL THE TIME. I started making purses in high school and did my first craft show at 17.

I’m a fashion school dropout, turned hairstylist, turned retired hairstylist, turned cosmetology instructor. I’ve been in the beauty industry since 2008, and I still work full time in a cosmetology school as the student advisor.

In 2017, I was browsing etsy and saw a cute necklace with a skeleton key and red stones and remembered I had an old skeleton key lying around somewhere. I figured I could just make it myself since I’m so ~crafty~ and ended up spending over $100 on the supplies I needed. I decided to make a few more necklaces since I had so many leftover supplies, but then had to buy more supplies, then had more ideas on what to create, and had to buy more supplies, and the cycle continued.

My first market as Bijoux de Terre was at the Maumee Summer Fair in 2017. It was pretty successful for being my first event, and I decided to keep this little thing going for a while. I started selling plants in 2023.

At first, I only did 2-3 events per year. It really was just a hobby back then, and I’d base the events around my friend’s schedule so I wouldn’t have to do anything alone. That was until OWE Fest in 2024. The person that was supposed to help me on day 2 couldn’t make it and it was my first time being alone for an all day huge market. I broke my then record that day, and it gave me the confidence to push myself as a small business owner vs a girl with a hobby.

And that’s how we got here! My main events are in Toledo, but you can sometimes find me in Cleveland, Columbus, Detroit and Ann Arbor so stay tuned to see where I’ll be next!
